Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. - Hebrews 3:13
Doesn't it feel great when someone puts their hand on your shoulder, looks you in the eye, and tells you what a great job your doing? Whether you work in a mine, on a skyscraper, on heavy equipment, in an office, a factory, or classroom... appreciation and encouragement is powerful fuel.
Self-motivation can only carry us so far. Encouragement from others can refuel our tank. Jesus taught us the power of coming together and the proverbs remind us how iron sharpens iron.
God designed us to live connected - not disconnected and alone. Just as we find ourselves empty at times, in need of encouragement - others struggle and need that lift just the same.
This is why we should build communities of faith. Men who connect to a small group often find more joy, contentment, and purpose for their life. They stay fueled and find satisfaction in helping to coach others up who are empty.
We know evil is working steadily to sow doubt into our soul, wanting us to question our worthiness to be called "God's mighty warrior". Encouragement from our brothers in Christ helps us to remain effective and confident in the work of faith. Initiate a lifestyle of daily encouragement.
Be the one who reaches out to your brother to say, "well done" and "I'm proud of you". This encouragement will return in immeasurable ways, and you both will build a stronger faith.
THE RIGHT NEXT STEP: Encourage 3 people today with a word of hope and empowerment to stay focused on God.
PRAY: God, your love inspires me, motivates me, and compels me to love others. Show me how to make it personal and real to those around me. Give me the desire and the words to encourage my family, friends, and neighbors. Amen.
