Balancing Faith and Work

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. - 2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)

Jonah stood before a crowd of nearly 800 professionals to talk about his company's position on global markets, emerging technology, and industrial efficiency.  He was considered an industry leader and expert among his peers. Years of hands-on experience, extensive research, and educated opinions had led Jonah to the front of his industry.

For the past two years Jonah has been a part of a small group of guys from his church who meet regularly, but he never leads the group. He feels unprepared and admits not knowing enough about God and scripture.

Like the investment we make into our careers, we should become equally invested in the truth of Jesus Christ.  Seeking opportunities for hands-on experience, paying attention to the way Christ's truth shapes our life, and learning about God's word so we are prepared to lead with authenticity.

Like your leadership in the workplace, seek boldness to stand before others, as leaders of faith - unashamed of our creator, our savior, our Father.

We are called to be men of faith in all that we do. Integrate your faith into the work you do… and watch both flourish. Pursue your career with passion, but balance your life with equal pursuit for the truth in Christ.

In the end, it's Jesus that holds the key - not the industry.

RIGHT NEXT STEP:  Spend 1 hour this week to broaden your understanding of God's Holy Word and how it applies to your work and life.

PRAY:  God, I want to be balanced.  Place reminders in my spirit to always seek you first and boldness to proclaiming your truth.  You hold the key to life! Amen.
