"Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight. Your statutes are always righteous; give me understanding that I may live." - Psalm 119:143-144 (NIV)
Think about how often worry creeps into your day. One small issue at work, a bill you weren’t expecting, a conversation that didn’t go as planned—and suddenly worry consumes your thoughts.
Worry has power if you give it space. It changes how you think and who you are. Worry kills hope, strains friendships, weakens our Christian witness, and makes us less of who God designed us to be.
But here’s the truth: circumstances don’t define you. They are temporary. They will pass. You, rooted in God, will remain. The Psalmist reminds us that God’s Word brings delight, clarity, and life when trouble surrounds us.
When you feel the weight of worry pressing down, stop and take action. Write down one worry on a piece of paper. Pray over it. Ask God to remove its hold on you. Then crumple that paper and throw it away. Physically leaving it behind can remind your spirit to do the same. Trust God. Move forward.
Christ never called us to carry the burden of worry—He called us to cast it upon Him
THE RIGHT NEXT STEP:
- Write down one worry today. Pray over it. Throw it away. Then thank God for the freedom He gives.
PRAY: God, I surrender my worries to You. Help me to let go of what weighs me down and trust in Your righteousness, truth, and promises. Teach me to walk in the hope, strength, and peace of You alone. Amen.
