Coaching: Discipleship

By: GCUMM

Let's infuse your daily faith life with a set of disciplines, if practice, will become concrete habits. We call these special disciplines of daily living: SWAPS. Following along, and find out why.

The SWAPS Method of discipleship is designed to help lead you into a transformed life - proactively.

Excellence is not an act, but a habit. We become what we repeatedly do.

We can get caught in a life we didn't expect to live by repeating a series of actions, habits, or routines not lined up with our desires and goals. Worse yet, habits and routines which fall outside the boundaries of living a Christ-centered life.

The professional athelete understands the need to practice with good form in order to make the right plays during the game. He also knows that practice is what builds muscle memory so he can focus on the game instead of the fundamentals.

Christian discipleship has it's own set of basic moves which are necessary for us to live at our highest God-given level.

Living your best life as a Christian isn't hard as Jesus explained to us, but it does require discipline and desire.

The GCUMM has developed 5 key disciplines which fall squarely in line with our well known Wesleyen roots. These disciplines, if practiced routinely, will not only guide you into a path of discipleship, but they will pull you through trials and setbacks you'll surely encounter along the way.

The SWAPS Method gives you 5 easy disciplines you must make into your daily habits.

  1. Study
  2. Worship
  3. Accountability
  4. Prayer
  5. Service

Making these disciplines into life changing habits begins by committing your heart to their importance and their relationship to being Christian.

*Key point - the SWAPS Method is only a process. It doesn't replace the work of The Holy Spirit, but enhances it and provides a pathway for you to grow. Use it -- and you will unlock your freedom.
